VALE 16-15, UMATILLA 1-0 — Vale improved to 6-0 in Eastern Oregon League play with a home sweep of Umatilla.
In the opener, Umatilla took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Kaylonni Schaefer scored on an error.
It was all Vale (9-2 overall) from there. The Viking scored five runs in the first and 11 in the second as the mercy rule came into play in the third.
Izzy Maag went 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for Vale, while Teagan Stokes went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
Schaefer and Khloe Hinrichsen each had a hit for Umatilla (1-9, 0-4).
In the second game, Kayci Shira and Emma Carpenter combined on a no-hitter with two strikeouts and one walk.
Braelyn Keller went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Vale, while Shira was 2-for-3 with four RBIs.
