Track and Field
The Riverside boys and the Echo girls won team titles at the Irrigon  Knights Track and Field Invitational, with each team winning five  events. 

Riverside dominated the distances, with Ethan Beaty winning the 800  in 2:04.83, Nathen Hammond the 1,500 (4:35.76) and Eric Pullen the  3,000 (10:13.01). Osmin Barrera continued the streak with a win in the  110 hurdles (16.87). Barrera also was fifth in the javelin (114-5). The Pirates picked up their fifth win in the 4x100 relay, where  Jeremias Calvillo, Arturo Murguia, Jonathan Lopez and Eugenio  Velasquez turned in a time of 46.49 — 2 seconds ahead of second place Stanfield. 

Calvillo also was second in the triple jump with a PR of 39 feet, and  second in the long jump with a leap of 18-9.5, while Eleazar Salas  was second in the javelin with a PR of 123-3. 

Host Irrigon saw Brody Parrish win the 100 with a PR of 11.88, and  place third in the 110 hurdles (17.67), while Saxon Byers won the pole  vault with a PR of 12-6, and teammate Samuel Cole was second with  a PR of 11 feet. 

Stanfield’s Jack Sperr won the long jump with a leap of 19-10.75, the  high jump at 5-8, and was second in the triple jump (39-0). Sperr also  ran a leg on the winning 4x400 relay team (3:49.43) with Antonio  Galindo, Pablo Galindo and Gabriel Mendez. 

Ione’s Carter Eynetich had a banner day, winning the shot put with a  PR of 40-5, placing third in the discus with a PR of 111-2, and placing  third in the javelin with a toss of 119-11.

The Cardinals were without sprinter/jumper Henry Giefing, who is out  with an injury. 

Umatilla’s Atticus Tesch won the 200 with a PR of 24.14, and was  second in the 100 with a PR of 12.02. Also for the Vikings, Tanner  Prindle won the 400 (53.60), and Jayden Perches won the 300  hurdles with a PR of 42.32, with teammate Larry Soriano second with  a PR of 44.48. 

In the throws, Umatilla’s Miguel Gutierrez won the discus with a toss  of 116-7.25, and was second in the shot put (40-2). 

Riverside won the team title with 146 points, followed by Stanfield  (141), Umatilla (94), Irrigon (67), Grant Union (66.5), Dayville (41.5),  Lyle/Wishram (36) and Ione (30). 

Hadlee Palmateer led Echo’s parade of champions, winning the 100  in a time of 13.60. She also was second in the 200 (28.42), and  second in the javelin (93-10). 

Palmateer also joined forces with Payton Widener, Cheyenne Skillman  and Ella Stahl to win the 4x100 in a tie of 54.53, 2 1/2 seconds ahead  of Stanfield (Mykael Graham, Teagan Studer, Kylee Jackson, Emirsyn  Marcum). 

Jude Royer won the shot put (35-4) for the Cougars, was fourth in the  javelin (92-1) and sixth in the discus (81-4.75). 

Brooklyn Wade won the high jump with a height of 4-8, and Stahl won  the triple jump with a PR of 31-0.5. Wade also was second in the long  jump with a PR of 16-1.25, while Stahl was fourth with a PR of 14-10. Taylor Sperr threw 93-10 to place second in the javelin, and was third  in the high jump (4-2). 

Riverside had winners in the 400, 800 and 1,500, starting with Kaylee  Christy in the 400 with a time of 1:05.48. Leiliana Lissman won the  800 with a PR of 2:40.15, and Caelyn Pullen ran a 6:31.98 to win the  1,500. 

Lissman also won the 100 hurdles (18.79), and Christy won the javelin  with a PR of 98-2. 

Umatilla’s EvaLynn Campos won the 200 with a time of 28.40, while  teammate Rylee Sanchez was second in the shot put (34-10.5), third  in the discus (88-2.25) and fifth in the javelin (89-0). 

Neftali Meja had the lone win for Irrigon, running a PR of 54.49 two  win the 300 hurdles.

Echo won the girls’ title with 163 points, followed by Grant Union  (140), Riverside (72), Umatilla (54), Stanfield (44), Irrigon (34), Lyle/ Wishram (14) and Ione (3).
