WESTON-MCEWEN 40, UMATILLA 25 — The fourth-ranked TigerScots continued their win streak with a nonleague home win over the 3A Vikings.
Weston-McEwen (7-0) opened the game with an 11-1 lead in the first quarter and cruised from there.
Charlotte Hansell had 10 of her 14 points in the second half as the TigerScots went on a 25-11 run to close out the game.
Reagan Pickard had 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, for W-M, while Lily Langford added eight points.
Peytan Fullerton led Umatilla (3-3) with 10 points, while Shay McAllister had nine.
Boys Basketball
UMATILLA 62, WESTON-MCEWEN 48 — David Garcia poured in a career-high 27 points to lead the Vikings to a nonleague road win over the TigerScots.
“Umatilla is tough,” W-M coach Becky Kane said. “I thought my boys played really hard. We made a run in the fourth and cut into their lead. We’re still figuring some things out, and I think that we’re getting better every day.”
Garcia had 16 of his points in the first half as the Vikings (4-2) ran out to a 36-19 lead.
The TigerScots (4-3) outscored Umatilla 29-26 in the second half, but it wouldn’t be enough.
Mike McGee added nine points, including an alley-oop dunk, six assists and six steals for the Vikings, while Jayden Perches chipped in eight points and 13 rebounds. Garcia also had eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Tristan Weseman led W-M with 16 points, while Jace Dunlap added 13 and Jonny Leighty nine.
