UMATILLA 52, NIXYAAWII 44 — The Vikings broke open a close game with a 23-10 run in the third quarter to pull away and beat the Golden Eagles on the road.

The game was tied 21-21 at the half, but Umatilla (5-3) got 10 points by Peytan Fullerton and seven from Jayde Escamilla in the third to lead the charge.

The Golden Eagles (3-5) went on a 13-8 run in the fourth but could not make up the difference.

The Vikings, who have won four of their past five games, got 16 points from Shay McCallister, 14 from Fullerton and nine from Escamilla.

Nixyaawii was led by Cryssa Kirkie and Liana Stewart, who each had 14 points. Annalise Watchman chipped in eight.

UMATILLA 82, NIXYAAWII 59 — Mike McGee scored a career-high 29 points with nine rebounds, five assists and three steals as the Vikings picked up a road win over the Golden Eagles.

McGee scored 13 of his points in the first quarter as Umatilla (6-2) got out to a 26-15 lead.

Nixyaawii (2-6) went on a 17-16 run in the second quarter, getting three 3-pointers and 11 points from Irvin Stewart, but the Vikings still led 42-32 at the half.

McGee added eight points in the third quarter in the midst of a 21-10 scoring spree that put Umatilla out front 63-42.

Kash Bronson had eight of his 24 points in the fourth quarter for the Golden Eagles, but it wouldn’t be enough.

David Garcia added 17 points for the Vikings, while Benny Soto had 10 points and four steals, and Jayden Perches 10 points,10 rebounds and three steals.

Stewart finished with 22 points, while Jeffrey Van Pelt chipped in six for the Golden Eagles.
