UMATILLA 45, TRINITY LUTHERAN 40 — The Vikings used a 14-9 run in the fourth quarter to break open a close game and beat the Saints in the consolation semifinals of the Black Bracket at the Crusader Classic at Salem Academy High School.

Umatilla (6-5) will play Nyssa at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the consolation finals.

Umatilla jumped out to a 10-9 lead in the first quarter and 25-19 at the half. The Saints went on a 12-6 run in the third quarter to tie the score at 31-31.

Ruby Chavez led the Vikings with 16 points, while EvaLynn Campos had 11.

Alea McAllister led the Saints (5-6) with 14 points, while Keira Smith had 10.

AMITY 68, UMATILLA 65 — David Garcia had a career-high 30 points and eight rebounds, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Vikings fell to the Warriors in the semifinals of the Black Bracket at the Crusader Classic at Salem Academy High School.

Umatilla (7-3) will play Colton at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the third-place game.

Amity (4-4) took an easy 18-13 lead in the first quarter as Ethan Owings scored eight of his 25 points.

The Vikings played right with the Warriors the rest of the game, trailing 27-24 at the half, and 48-46 after three quarters.

Garcia scored six of his points in Umatilla’s 19-point fourth quarter, but the Vikings would be short in the end.

Mike McGee added 12 points, 10 rebounds and two steals for the Vikings (8-3), who saw their six-game win streak come to an end.

Jayden Perches had eight points and six rebounds, while Linkin Zamudio hauled down 10 rebounds and had two assists.

Austin Lopez chipped in 23 points for the Warriors, while Carter Haarsma had 12.
