VALE 58, UMATILLA 16 — Top-ranked Vale picked up a road win over Umatilla in the Eastern Oregon League opener for both teams.
Vale improved to 12-1 overall, while Umatilla fell to 6-7.

Boys Basketball
UMATILLA 64, VALE 48 — Mike McGee had 19 points, nine rebounds and four assists as Umatilla opened Eastern Oregon League play with a home win over Vale.
Umatilla (10-3) held a 30-27 lead at the half, then broke the game open in the third with an 18-8 run behind six points from McGee and five from Benny Soto for a 48-35 lead.
David Garcia added 17 points and seven rebounds for Umatilla, while Linkin Zamudio had nine points and six rebounds, and Soto four assists and two steals.
Eli Seals led Vale with 14 points, with Cal Johnson and Kellen Hartley each adding eight.
