UMATILLA 38, RIVERSIDE 22 — Peytan Fullerton and Jayde Escamilla each had 10 points to lead the Vikings to an Eastern Oregon League home win over the Pirates.

Umatilla (7-8 overall, 1-1 EOL) had a slim 18-16 lead at the half, but used a 10-2 run in the third for a little breathing room.

Fullerton and Escamilla each had four points in the fourth quarter as the Vikings sealed the win with a 10-4 run.

Rocio Garay led the Pirates (2-13, 1-2) with nine points, while Maddyn Morton and Jazzlyn Reyna each had five.

RIVERSIDE 74, UMATILLA 65 — Cooper Cemore scored 10 of his 27 points in the first quarter as the third-ranked Pirates got off to a hot start and held on for an Eastern Oregon League road win over the Vikings.

“A fun game to be a part of,” Riverside coach Cole Ashby said. “A fast-paced game to start the first half. A lot of kids played really big for us and hit some big shots. It was a great hard-fought team win.”

Riverside (12-3 overall, 3-0 EOL) opened the game with a 24-22 lead in the first quarter then pulled away in the second with a 23-15 run for a 47-37 lead at the half.

The Pirates continued to stay one step ahead of the Vikings, outscoring them 17-13 in the third. Umatilla went on a 15-10 run in the fourth, but it wouldn’t be enough.

Jesus Peña added 16 points for the Pirates, while Cougar Philippi had nine and Rodrigo Claustro eight.

David Garcia had a game-high 29 points and nine rebounds for the Vikings (10-5, 1-1), while Mike McGee added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Jayden Perches had seven rebounds.
