UMATILLA 62, MCLOUGHIN 29 — Freshman Peytan Fullerton scored a career-high 37 points, and the Vikings moved to second in the Eastern Oregon League standings with a home win over the Pioneers.

Fullerton’s 37 points are believed to be a school record for one game.

Umatilla (8-8 overall, 2-1 EOL) held a modest 15-9 lead after the first quarter, then went on a 22-9 run in the second, with Fullerton scoring 13 of her points, as the Vikings opened up a 37-17 lead at the half.

Umatilla finished the game with a 12-1 run in the fourth quarter.

Jayde Escamilla and EvaLynn Campos each added seven points for the Vikings.

Maddie Stiefel led Mac-Hi (0-14, 0-3) with 10 points, while Miley Rhoads added eight and Abi Perkins six.

Boys Wrestling
Riverside crowned one champion and had three runner-ups en route to winning the boys team title at College Place High School.

The Pirates rolled up 181 points for the titles with Hanford second (151.5). Irrigon was sixth (103), Heppner seventh (82), the Pendleton JV 11th (57.5), Echo 12th (54.5), Umatilla 16th (27) and Stanfield 18th (15.5).

Riverside’s title came at 150 pounds, where Andrew Calderon won by technical fall (19-3) over Maximus Perkes of Hanford. Calderon pinned his first opponent, then registered a major decision and a technical fall in the semis to reach the championship match.

Nikolai Rockwell was second at 126 for the Pirates, getting pinned by Echo’s Caleb Glenn in 1:19.

At 132, Leonel Vargas finished second after getting pinned by Hanford’s Hunter Duncan in 51 seconds in the championship match.

Alexis Amaya also was second for Riverside after getting pinned by Naches Valley’s Jack Bohlke in 5:02 in the 175-pound title bout.

Also for the Pirates, Sam Lopez was third at 138, Angel Madrigal was fourth at 104, Byron Brindis was fourth at 113, Vinny Sanchez was fourth at 120, Eric Pullen was fourth at 126, Julian Ortega was fourth at 132 and Treyvin VanNostren was fourth at 285.

Irrigon had two champions in Anthony Vasquez at 113 and Preston Slawson at 138.

Vasquez, who pinned all three of his opponents, pinned Keagan Jarvis of Cle Elum-Roslyn in 3:59 in the championship match.

Slawson pinned his first two opponents, then earned an 18-0 technical over John Garcia of River View to reach the finals, where he pinned teammate Brody Parrish in 52 seconds.

Also for the Knights, Jakson Coffman was third at 120.

Heppner had a small contingent Saturday, but came away with two titles.

Owen Guerra pinned his first two opponents in less than 1:30, then posted a 17-1 technical fall over Jarod Hankins in the semifinals. In the championship match, Guerra pinned Peyton Cannon of Pomery in 1:03.

Landon McMahon remained undefeated for the Mustangs, winning the 215-pound title. McMahon pinned his first two opponents in less than 30 seconds, then pinned Riverside’s Cristian Barrientos in 44 seconds in the semifinals.

In the championship match, McMahon posted a 25-9 technical fall victory over Hanford’s Ashtyn Swentik with one minute left in the third round.

Also for Heppner, Matt Wilson was fourth at 138.

Glenn, won the 126-pound title for Echo, pinned all four of his opponents, with the quickest being 44 seconds over Pullen in the semifinals.

Also for the Cougars, Kellen Smith was third at 126, pinning Riverside’s Pullen in 1:01. Marley Blanchett was fourth at 175, losing the third-place match to Jackson Tiboni of Hanford 15-13.

Umatilla’s Kyle Carlton was second at 157, getting pinned by Naches Valley’s Hunter Blanchard in 3:19 of the championship match.

The Pendleton JV saw Adam Urbina win the 165-pound title with a 7-3 decision over Kingston Santana of College place. To reach the finals, Urbina had a technical fall, a pin and a 2-0 decision over Zachary Parton of Irrigon in the semifinals.

Girls Wrestling
Pendleton had two champions and placed second in the team standings at the Battle in the Blues at College Place High School.

Walla Walla won the team title with 105 points, with Pendleton a close second with 91. Irrigon was fifth (56), Riverside sixth (52), Umatilla seventh (49), Echo/Stanfield 10th (40), Heppner 12th (30) and McLoughlin 13th (17.5).

The Bucks got a title from Thiri Dahl at 155. She earned a 10-9 decision over Brooke Hodgen of College Place in the semis, then pinned Evelyn Cisneros of Mabton in the finals in 5 minutes.

Gabby Kennedy won the 235-pound title for the Bucks, pinning Irrigon’s Cinthia Madrigal in the final round in 3:58.

Also for Pendleton, Harlee James for second at 190, getting pinned by Walla Walla’s Brooklyn Quigg in the finals in 1:30.

Devin Scott was third at 130, winning the placing match by fall over Cambrie Clemens of Walla Walla in 1:12.

Madison Chase was third at 170, winning the placing match with a 3:25 pin of Rebecca Glenn of Riverside.

Roxy Solis won the 120-pound title for Irrigon, pinning Kylie Martin of Baker/Powder Valley in 1:13.

Also for the Knights, Emma Macomber was third at 135, winning her placing match with a 6-3 decision over Skyler Olson of Cle Elum-Roslyn.

Angela Ramos was fourth at 120, and Sara Akers was fourth at 155.

Riverside’s Megan Wiseman placed second at 125, getting pinned by Walla Walla’s undefeated Hazel Asmus in 2:28 in the finals.

Leiliana Lissmam was third for the Pirates at 100, winning her placing match with a 12-3 major decision over Austin Hilton of Baker/Powder Valley.

Adalia Chavez placed third at 115, pinning Melina Jimenez Ortiz of River View in 37 seconds in the placing match.

Rebecca Glenn was fourth for Riverside at 170.

Umatilla’s Rylee Sanchez went home with a gold medal, pinning Mabton’s Aaliyah Martin in 25 seconds in the finals. Sanchez also pinned her first two opponents.

Also for the Vikings, Ally Claustro was fourth at 125.

Heppner’s Sarah Estes won the 140-pound title, pinning Umatilla’s Brooklynn Sanchez in 1:51.

Also for Heppner, Sarah Munkers was third at 190, winning her placing match with a 9-2 decision over Yarely Tapia-Ibarra of College Place.

Echo/Stanfield placed all three of its wrestlers on the podium. Jacee Greene won the 120-pound title with a 5-1 decision over teammate Braelyn Perry in the championship match.

Averi Fisher was second at 135, getting pinned by River View’s Tatum Cram in 3:46 in the finals.

Mac-Hi’s lone wrestler, freshman Emily Delarosa, placed second at 170, getting pinned by Baker/Powder Valley’s Kate Norton in 1:09.
