UMATILLA 45, RIVERSIDE 28 — The Vikings held the Pirates scoreless in the first quarter, and never let them back in the game for an Eastern Oregon League road win.
“We didn’t make wide open shots and turned the ball,” Riverside coach Clair Costello said. “That put pressure on the defense.”
Umatilla (9-11 overall, 3-3 EOL) increased its lead to 18-6 at the half, then went on a 27-22 run in the second half to put the game away.
Peytan Fullerton led the Vikings with 17 points, while Shay McCallister had 15 and EvaLynn Campos 10.
Rocio Garay led the Pirates (2-18, 1-6) with eight points, with Jazzlyn Reyna adding five.

RIVERSIDE 83, UMATILLA 63 — The third-ranked Pirates ran their win streak to 10 games with an Eastern Oregon League home win over the Vikings.
Riverside (17-3 overall, 7-0 EOL) took control of the game for the start, leading 22-8 after the first quarter and 45-27 at the half.
The Pirates stretched their lead to 66-42 after three quarters and sailed to victory from there.
Cougar Philippi led Riverside with 22 points, while Cooper Cemore had 20, Jeremias Calvillo 16 and Rodrigo Claustro 13.
Jayden Perches led Umatilla (11-9, 2-4) with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Mike McGee had 15 points and six rebounds, David Garcia 14 points and four assists, and Benny Soto 10 points.
