UMATILLA 53, BURNS 47 — David Garcia scored nine of his 22 points in the fourth quarter to help the Vikings hold off the Hilanders for an Eastern Oregon League home win.

Umatilla (13-9 overall, 4-4 EOL) is sitting third in the EOL standings with two games to play against Nyssa and Vale. The Vikings have a chance to snare the No. 2 seed with a pair wins.

The Vikings jumped out to a 19-10 lead in the first quarters and led 33-26 at the half.

The Hilanders went in a 10-4 run in the third to pull within 37-36 heading into the fourth quarter.

Umatilla outscored Burns 16-12 in the fourth to secure the win.

Mike McGee added 10 points and four rebounds for the Vikings, while Jayden Perches had seven points and four rebounds, and Benny Soto 10 rebounds and three assists. Garcia also had six rebounds and three steals.

Wyatt Sewell led Burns (16-4, 5-3) with 13 points, while Coltin Miller chipped in 12.

BURNS 68, UMATILLA 40 — The Hilanders took a 20-7 lead in the first quarter and never let the Vikings back in the game en route to an Eastern Oregon League road win.

Amaya Ballard scored 10 of her 14 points in the first quarter for Burns (11-10 overall, 6-2 EOL), and Hayley Smith had six in the second quarter as the Hilanders led 32-21 at the half.

Burns went on a 36-9 run in the second half to put the game out of reach.

Peytan Fullerton paced the Vikings (10-12, 4-4) with 16 points, while Shay McCallister had 12, and EvaLynn Campos nine.

Bailey Temple led the Hilanders with 18 points, while Ballard and Kristee Condon each had 14.
