RIVERSIDE 3, UMATILLA 0 — The Pirates moved to 2-0 in the Eastern Oregon League standings with a 25-15, 25-22, 25-12 victory over the Vikings in Boardman.

“I’m very proud,” Riverside coach Rachael Lafferty said. “Our team is showing up, playing hard and doing the hard things to earn the wins.”

Jazzlyn Reyna had 24 digs, seven aces and five kills for the Pirates (3-6 overall), while Kasey Salgado had 15 digs, seven kills and two aces, and Sophia Villegas added 10 digs, eight assists, three aces and two kills.

For the Vikings, Bianca Espinoza had three aces and three kills, while Naeyeli Rodarte had four aces.

Boys Soccer 

UMATILLA 3, PRESCOTT (WA) 1 — The Vikings stretched their win streak to three games with a nonleague home win over the Tigers.

“We failed on a penalty kick and at least two clear opportunities to score,” Umatilla coach Pedro Ortiz said.

The Vikings (4-3), who led 2-0 at the half, got goals from Javier Ruiz on a long shot in the right top corner, Isaac Madrigal and Jose Campos.

Umatilla goalkeeper Miguel Mendez finished the game with one save.

Football

BAKER 54, UMATILLA 6 — Quin Wellman threw for 195 yards and five touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs to a road win over the Vikings.

Wellman connected with five different receivers for touchdowns, while Colton Luschen ran for 105 yards and one touchdown, and Ambrose Rexroad ran for 30 yards and one touchdown.

Umatilla’s lone touchdown came on a 10-yard fumble recovery by Edwin Madrigal in the third quarter.

Defensively, KJ Carlton and Judah Tesch each had five tackles for the Vikings, while Bryce Morris and David Arroyo each had four.

Baker held Umatilla to 73 yards of offense, led by Linkin Zamudio, who ran for 43 yards on 12 carries.
