UMATILLA 3, IRRIGON 0 — The Vikings got off to a good start and never let up for a nonleague home win over the Knights.
Jose Campos and Omar Francisco scored in the first half as Umatilla (5-3-1) took a 2-0 lead at the half. Jayden Coria scored in the second half to finish the scoring.
Vikings goalkeeper Miguel Mendez had zero saves in the shutout, his second of the season.
Girls Soccer
UMATILLA 8, IRRIGON 1 — Ava Montiel and Elaina Jewett each had three goals to lead the Vikings to a Special District 5 home win over the Knights.
“This game was interesting to see unfold, especially at the beginning,” Umatilla coach Edgar Navarrete said. “Irrigon came at us strong, but we were able to quickly counter. It was great to see so many things we’ve learned be put into practice. We also got to see how many of our girls have improved over just the past couple of days.”
Evelyn Christensen and Lucille Horn also scored for the Vikings, while goalkeeper EvaLynn Campos had five saves.
