Masks are Optional

The Umatilla School Board approved the latest edition of the Umatilla Safe Return to In-Person Learning Plan at their meeting March 10th. The graphic guides to the mask-optional plan are available here (English/Spanish).

Please remember, we need to work together to respect the mask wearing decisions of each other to keep school a safe learning environment for all. Different families have been impacted differently by COVID. Please model respect for others in how you discuss this matter with your students to help set them up for successful, and respectful, conduct at school as well.

If you have an elementary student and would prefer for your child to wear a mask, please complete this survey. We will share this information with your child's teacher so the teacher can remind your student of your wish for them to wear their mask at school. If you have middle and high school students and would like them to continue wearing masks, please communicate that with them directly. If you are in need of KN95 masks for your students, please request them at your child's school and we will be happy to share some of ours with you.

Due to a drastic decrease in cases, we will only be updating the case tracker weekly if there are cases. In weeks where new COVID-19 infections are reported in staff or students at school, we will update the metric and post the update on the District website no later than Sunday evening to help parents plan for the coming week.

Thank you for your support and partnership as we continue to progress through the various changes. We look forward to seeing smiles next week, and are ready to support students who feel more comfortable continuing with mask wearing.
