Welcome Back! Columbia Vista Intermediate

Dear Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year! I hope you all have had a relaxing and fun summer break. I am proud to serve as the principal of our new school: Columbia Vista Intermediate. This year, our focus is “Respect, Excellence, and Perseverance”. As a school, we will be infusing these three concepts into all we do. We will continue to strive for academic growth and social emotional well-being for our students.

I would like to welcome all our new families. We are excited to share with you all that Umatilla has to offer and believe you will soon feel as we do- that the Umatilla School District is a special place for all children.

The first official first day of school will be Tuesday, September 2nd . The gates will open at 7:45am, and school starts at 8:05am. Both breakfast and lunch are free for all students. School ends at 3:15pm Monday-Thursday, and 11:55am on Friday.

We will also have the following full day Soft Start/Orientation days:

  • Tuesday, August 26th - 4th Grade

  • Wednesday, August 27th - 5th Grade

  • Thursday, August 28th - 6th Grade

On Thursday, August 28th from 7:00pm-8:00pm, we will have Columbia Vista Intermediate’s Open House. This will include a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 7:00pm.

Picture Day will be Thursday, September 25th, and all students will have their photo taken. Picture packets will be sent home with students prior to picture day.

Dear families with students in the Dual Language program,

We will be continuing the Dual Language program at Columbia Vista. For those of you that have students in the Dual Language program, please note the following:

The 4th and 5th grade classes will run the same as they did at McNary Heights. In 6th grade, the students will receive their Core English Language Arts class in Spanish and are enrolled in a Speech and Debate elective that will be taught in Spanish.
