The Umatilla High School invites families to attend an informational meeting on Monday, November 17, at 6:00 p.m. in the Umatilla High School Library to learn how to access support services offered by Umatilla County Developmental Disabilities Services (CDDP).
The event will feature Trevor Riedmann and colleagues from CDDP, who will answer questions about how to apply for and access their services. The Umatilla Parent Teacher Club will provide refreshments.
The goal of the event is to help connect families with organizations that continue to provide support as students grow and transition beyond the services offered in school. CDDP works to connect individuals and families with lifelong supports that promote independence, enrichment, and, in some cases, employment opportunities for adults with developmental disabilities.
CDDP’s website explains: “Developmental disabilities are severe, chronic disabilities, which are attributed to intellectual or physical disabilities, or a combination of such impairments. Some conditions typically associated with developmental disabilities are: epilepsy, cerebral palsy, autism, and intellectual disabilities... The disability must significantly affect the person’s abilities in at least two of the following areas: communication, capacity for independent living, economic self-sufficiency, learning, mobility, self-care, and/or self-direction.”
Families are encouraged to learn more about Umatilla County Developmental Disabilities Services before the meeting by visiting www.co.umatilla.or.us/departments/dd.

We look forward to welcoming families on Monday, November 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the UHS Library.
