UHS Softball Team Earns Academic Achievement

Fifteen members of the Umatilla Viking Softball team have earned Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete honors for the 2021-2022 school year. The National Fastpitch Coaches Association annually honors student-athletes who have completed a full school year with a 3.5 or better grade point average.

The Viking program completed the school year with a 3.4936 cumulative GPA. NFCA member and Head Coach Erick Olson has nominated the team for Easton/NFCA All-American honors. "I'm a statistics person so what stands out is we watched our young women earn an A in better than 64 percent of their classes," Olson said. "Maybe more impressive, the program earned an A or B in 89 percent of our 393 classes for the entire year."

The NFCA releases its full list in the fall. This will mark the fifth consecutive year that the softball team will earn academic honors from the OSAA and earn Umatilla High School OSAA Cup points for the year.

The following Viking softball student-athletes will be recognized as Easton/NFCA All-American Scholar Athletes.
