Spirit Week

What a great week to be a UHS Viking!

Homecoming Week started this Monday, September 26th, at UHS and will end with the Homecoming Dance this Saturday!

The Spirit Days this week were:

  • Monday – Neon Day, wear bright colors
  • Tuesday – Bright Stars of Texas, wear Western gear
  • Wednesday – Bright Lights, City Lights, wear Black & Gold
  • Thursday – Shine Like a Rockstar, wear concert apparel
  • Friday – Umatilla Shines, wear Blue and Orange

All of the Spirit Days incorporated the theme at UHS this year, which is “Choose to SHINE.” To view photos of the spirit week dress up days and activities, watch the attached video!

The theme of the Homecoming Dance, which is Saturday, October 1st from 8 to 11 PM in the UHS Commons, is going to be amazing, said Lily and Valeria, two seniors in Leadership helping to plan the dance. The theme is An Evening at the Palace and based on the Disney movie, The Princess and the Frog.

The décor is also influenced by the shine theme, with lights, fireflies and a waterfall mirror. The lotus flowers on lily pads, green and purple colors and food are all inspired by the Mardi Gras/New Orleans setting of the movie. “We are really excited about the colors, décor, food and especially the entrance, which is going to be really great,” Lily and Valeria said. They said they hope a lot of students join in the Homecoming fun and that students experience “a whole bunch of UHS school spirit” when they walk through the doors.
