Winter Roads

We are excited to welcome students back from break. We wanted to take a moment to check-in on winter weather and COVID before students return.

Staff works closely with the bus company to monitor road conditions. We strive to make decisions the night before; however, there are times when the weather changes overnight and requires early morning decisions. We utilize a three-hour delay when possible in lieu of cancellations.

A three-hour delay allows buses to run their normal routes, only three hours later.  McNary Heights students will report to their homerooms as normal, just three hours later. CBMS and UHS follow the three-hour delay schedule found here

You can stay informed of school closures through the following:

In extreme weather conditions, we utilize indoor recess options; however, during most of winter, students have outdoor recess. Please send them to school with coats/hats/gloves to ensure they are able to enjoy their outdoor time.

COVID is spreading in the county; however, we have been able to prevent the spread of COVID in schools with your help this fall and anticipate continued success. The matrix was updated before the break and shows the case numbers thus far. For a full review of options for COVID, including vaccination questions, please see our November update here. Please continue to keep students with symptoms home and remain open on communication regarding positive cases. Your partnership helps us keep students in school safely and we appreciate you.

We look forward to seeing students this week and hope you enjoyed a wonderful break.
