Our staff came together today to kick off the new school year at our all-staff in-service! We celebrated staff reaching milestone years of service, recognized paraprofessionals who earned their certifications, and highlighted alumni who have returned to serve our district.

A special thank-you to the Umatilla Parent Teacher Club for sponsoring Java Junkies for our morning caffeine, the UEA for providing breakfast, and our School Board for providing lunch!

We can’t wait to welcome our students and families back!

Thanks to a generous donation from Costco, we have free backpacks available for students! Backpacks are available in sizes for elementary, middle, and high school students. If your student needs one, stop by the Umatilla School District Office tomorrow, August 14, from 9 AM to 3 PM The district office is located at 1001 Sixth St. in Umatilla. Backpacks will not be available before 9 am and will be distributed while supplies last.

Our 4th and 5th graders had an amazing day exploring history and culture with visits to the Whitman Mission and Fort Walla Walla!

These hands-on learning experiences bring history to life, giving students the opportunity to learn about the people, events, and cultures that have shaped our region. From exploring historic sites to discovering the stories of the past, our students are building a deeper understanding and appreciation of our local history.

🎒 Summer School Students
Students attending summer school will receive their weekend meal packages at the end of the school day each Thursday.

Today, CVI held its 4th Quarter REP Awards Assembly! REP stands for Respect, Excellence, and Perseverance, the school’s theme for the year. Teachers recognized students who stood out by demonstrating one or more of these qualities throughout the quarter.

Thank you to the Masonic Lodge for donating Kindle tablets to CVI to recognize students who showed the most growth on their MAP Growth Reading assessment this year!

The City of Umatilla will have inmate work crews working at Sunset Cemetery near CVI this Tuesday and Wednesday. Please remind students not to interact with the crews. Thank you!

Great job to our 3rd graders at McNary Heights Elementary and our 6th graders at Columbia Vista Intermediate! They were the winners of this year's food waste audit competition. Throughout the school year, students at both schools participated in waste audits to help reduce food waste in our cafeterias.

As a reward for throwing away the least amount of food this year, students received a special treat during lunch! They enjoyed a yogurt parfait with mini pancakes and received a fun prize, choosing between a yo-yo or a wavy straw.

¡Excelente trabajo a nuestros estudiantes de tercer grado de McNary Heights Elementary y de sexto grado de Columbia Vista Intermediate! Fueron los ganadores de la competencia de auditoría de desperdicio de alimentos de este año. Durante todo el año escolar, los estudiantes de ambas escuelas participaron en auditorías para ayudar a reducir el desperdicio de alimentos en nuestras cafeterías.

Como recompensa por haber desperdiciado la menor cantidad de comida este año, los estudiantes recibieron un regalo especial durante el almuerzo. Disfrutaron de un parfait de yogur con mini panqueques y recibieron un divertido premio, pudiendo elegir entre un yo-yo o un popote ondulado.
