Key Club members from UHS, partnered with Hermiston’s Key Club, had a memorable experience at the Pacific Northwest District Convention in Portland earlier this month! They participated in divisional competitions, attended workshops, and two of Umatilla’s members contributed to the election of the new PNW District Board. Umatilla’s Key Club was also recognized for their achievements in membership goals and secretary reports. Way to go, Vikings! – ¡Los miembros del Key Club de UHS, asociados con el Key Club de Hermiston, tuvieron una experiencia memorable en la Convención del Distrito Noroeste del Pacífico en Portland a principios de este mes! Today, Umatilla High School had a blast celebrating Saint Patrick's Day with an assembly full of fun games! As a special twist for Pi Day, ASB put together a fundraiser where students were able to purchase tickets to vote on which staff members they wanted to see get pied in the face. Check out the photos below! – Hoy, la Escuela Preparatoria Umatilla se divirtió muchísimo celebrando el Día de San Patricio con una asamblea llena de juegos divertidos. Como sorpresa especial para el Día de Pi, ASB organizó una recaudación de fondos donde los estudiantes pudieron comprar boletos para votar por cual miembros del personal querían ver recibir una pastel en la cara. ¡Echa un vistazo a las fotos abajo!

Yesterday was an exciting day for Umatilla High School juniors as they had the opportunity to hear a presentation and visit with representatives from Oregon Public Universities! They gained insights into academic programs, application processes, and learned more about campus life. – Ayer fue un día emocionante para los juniors de la escuela preparatoria Umatilla. There are just a few weeks left to NOMINATE school district employees for the 2024 Crystal Apple Awards. These awards honor district employees who are doing an outstanding job in their work and making a difference for students. Who CAN nominate? Anyone can nominate an employee -- administrators, teachers, paraeducators, other school staff, parents or community members. Who can BE nominated? Nominees can be any full-time or part-time employee who has a cumulative total of regular service of at least one year in the school district. Licensed, classified, any employee group is eligible. Thank you, Officer Wilson, for presenting to our students at CBMS this week the risks associated with alcohol consumption! During the presentation, students had the opportunity to participate in a fun activity where they wore goggles designed to simulate the effects of alcohol. – ¡Gracias, Oficial Wilson, por presentarles a nuestros estudiantes de CBMS esta semana los riesgos asociados con el consumo de alcohol! Durante la presentación los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de participar en una divertida actividad donde usaron gafas diseñadas para simular los efectos del alcohol.

Students and their families are invited to see their teachers working at McDonalds! Students will get to see their teachers behind the scenes passing out food, selling cookies, and much more. Join us on March 19th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Hermiston McDonalds to enjoy one of the “Happiest Meals” ever. Last week was National School Breakfast Week! To celebrate, FoodCorp member Lourdes showed students at MHES how to prepare a fruit salad perfect for breakfast. The fruit salad was made with apples, mandarins, bananas, granola, and yogurt! We would like to extend a special thank you to Aaron Poplack, FoodCorps State Director, Souhair Kenas, Oregon Program Coordinator, and Brendon Bassett, FoodCorps Regional Director, for visiting MHES last week! – ¡La semana pasada fue la Semana Nacional del Desayuno Escolar! Para celebrarlo, Lourdes, miembro de FoodCorp, mostró a los estudiantes de MHES cómo preparar una ensalada de frutas perfecta para el desayuno. ¡La ensalada de frutas se hizo con manzanas, mandarinas, plátanos, granola y yogur! What a great Read Across America Week! Today’s final dress-up theme was ‘Pajama Day.’ Students dressed in their coziest outfits to dive into their favorite stories! – ¡Qué gran Semana de Leer a Través de América!
