Day 3: Querida familia, this morning, Maribel, Vayron, and George took us on a hike. We got to see newts! They said we could touch them, but not to lick them. We also got to break open dead sand dollars and make necklaces out of the teeth! We learned how to tell the difference between the live sand dollars and the dead ones, so we don't accidentally pick up a live one on the beach. After lunch, I got to go on the extreme swing. I screamed so loud, but not as loud as Taylynn. And we made s’mores tonight. Diego had never had one before. Then Lorelai and the high school counselors taught us some campfire songs. The high schoolers are cool, and they are really nice and helpful. By the time you get this, I will already be on the bus heading home. The teachers said we would get to the school around 2pm on Thursday, and that our parents can pick us up right away. We can also stay and ride the bus home after school, if you are not able to meet me there. Either way, I'll see you soon. Love you. – Día 3: Querida familia, esta mañana, Maribel, Vayron y George nos llevaron de excursión. ¡Vimos tritones! Dijeron que podíamos tocarlos, pero que no debíamos lamerlos. También rompimos dólares de arena muertos y usamos los dientes para hacer collares. Aprendimos a diferenciar los dólares de arena vivos de los muertos para no recoger uno vivo por accidente en la playa. Después del almuerzo, me subí al columpio extremo. Grité muy fuerte, pero no tan fuerte como Taylynn. Y esta noche hicimos s’mores. Diego nunca había comido uno antes. Luego, Lorelai y los consejeros de high school nos enseñaron algunas canciones de fogata. Los de la high school son geniales, y son muy amables y serviciales. Para cuando recibas esto, ya estaré en el autobús de regreso a casa. Los maestros dijeron que llegaríamos a la escuela alrededor de las 2 pm el jueves y que nuestros padres pueden recogernos de inmediato. También podemos quedarnos y tomar el autobús a casa después de la escuela si no puedes ir por mí. De cualquier manera, nos vemos pronto. Te quiero.

Umatilla High and Clara Brownell Middle are in a lock down status due to a neighborhood situation. Students are safe and in the school. We will send another alert when the situation is resolved.

Day 2: Querida familia, we had pancakes for breakfast! They were good, but not as good as yours. Today, we got sorted into our learning groups, and we learned about all kinds of stuff. Did you know owls can fly without making a sound? My favorite part was learning to make a campfire. Xophia and Soraya showed me how. We got to walk on the beach too. There are two huge rocks that the camp is named after. And we did karaoke before bed. Ali is a great dancer. I miss you. But don’t worry, I’m having a lot of fun. Love you. – Día 2: ¡Querida familia! ¡Desayunamos pancakes! Estaban ricos, pero no tan buenos como los tuyos. Hoy nos dividimos en grupos de aprendizaje y aprendimos un montón de cosas. ¿Sabían que los búhos pueden volar sin hacer ruido? Mi parte favorita fue aprender a hacer una fogata. Xophia y Soraya me enseñaron cómo hacerlo. También pudimos caminar por la playa. Hay dos rocas enormes que dan nombre al campamento. Y cantamos karaoke antes de dormir. Ali baila muy bien. Los extraño. Pero no se preocupen, me lo estoy pasando bien. Los quiero.

Letters From Camp Day 1: Querida familia, we made it to the beach! The weather was nice, and we got to go to the tide pools. There were A LOT of crabs, and I think Bryan caught the biggest one. We did skits on the stage tonight too, and they were pretty funny. Well, I gotta go. I want to take a shower and then hang out with my cabin mates for a bit before bed. Tell everyone I said hi. I love you. – Cartas Desde el Camp Día 1: Querida familia, ¡llegamos a la playa! El clima estaba agradable y pudimos ir a las pozas de marea. Había MUCHOS cangrejos, y creo que Bryan atrapó el más grande. Esta noche también hicimos sketches en el escenario, y fueron bastante divertidos. Bueno, me tengo que ir. Quiero darme una ducha y luego pasar un rato con mis compañeros de cabaña antes de irme a dormir. Díganle a todos que les mando saludos. Los quiero.

Registration for session four of the STEAM Academy is now open! Registration forms are available at all three school offices. Last Friday CBMS had their Valentine’s Dance! Students enjoyed dancing to music, buying snacks from the concessions, and spending time with friends! – El viernes pasado, CBMS celebró su baile de San Valentín. Last Thursday, our 6th and 8th grade students at CBMS celebrated meeting their MAPs testing goals with a fun trip to the bowling alley! Emergency personnel were on site at Umatilla High School for a student with a medical emergency. CBMS students in Mrs. Fritz’s Family and Consumer Science classes had the opportunity to learn essential CPR skills last week! Two certified instructors led hands-on training, helping students gain valuable life-saving knowledge. – ¡Los estudiantes de CBMS en las clases de Ciencias de la Familia y del Consumidor de la Sra. An informational meeting for 7th and 8th grade students interested in track and field will be held on Thursday, March 6th, during lunch.
