Umatilla High School students visited the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave (LIGO) Observatory at Hanford yesterday! Students enjoyed meeting LIGO scientists, participating in interactive science experiments, and taking a walking tour of the observatory. They also got to stop at Howard Amon Park for lunch! — ¡Los estudiantes de Umatilla High School visitaron el Observatorio de ondas gravitacionales con interferómetro láser (LIGO) en Hanford hoy! Los estudiantes disfrutaron conociendo a los científicos de LIGO, participando en experimentos científicos interactivos y realizaron un recorrido por el observatorio. ¡También pudieron parar en Howard Amon Park para almorzar!

Last Friday, April 28th, after school STEAM students had a blast learning how science can be SWEET! They learned about states of matter with COOL science experiments from SubZero Nitrogen Ice Cream. Afterward, they ended the day with fresh ice cream made with liquid nitrogen! Thank you to SubZero Ice Cream - Kennewick for presenting to our students! ¡El viernes pasado, 28 de abril, los estudiantes de STEAM se divirtieron mucho aprendiendo cómo la ciencia puede ser DULCE! Support our UHS Softball team and help them honor McNary Heights Elementary School teacher Jordan Bennett at tomorrow's "Strike-Out Cancer" softball game! Game time is at 4 o'clock at the UHS softball field. Before the game, at 3:50pm, a brief recognition ceremony will be held for Jordan Bennett. ¡Apoye a nuestro equipo de sóftbol de UHS y ayúdalos a honrar a la maestra de la escuela primaria de McNary Heights, Jordan Bennett, en el juego de sóftbol "Strike-Out Cancer" de mañana! Tri-County is a band festival where small high school band programs in Umatilla, Morrow, and Sherman counties come together to perform in one big band directed by a guest conductor. Pilot Rock hosted this year's band festival on April 5th. Tri-County es un festival de bandas donde los estudiantes de banda de la escuela preparatoria en los condados de Umatilla, Morrow y Sherman se reúnen para tocar en una gran banda dirigida por un director. Yesterday Key Club members from the Umatilla High School hosted a Red Cross Blood Drive! Their goal was to collect 20 units of blood, and they exceeded this goal with 27 units. We are so grateful for all the donors who helped achieve this goal and for helping save lives (one unit of blood can save up to three lives)! We would also like to thank our Key Club for hosting this event and supporting donors throughout the process! ¡Ayer, los miembros del Key Club de la Escuela Preparatoria Umatilla organizaron una campaña de donación de sangre de la Red Cross! Su meta era recolectar 20 unidades de sangre y superaron esta meta con 27 unidades. ¡Estamos muy agradecidos por todos los donantes que ayudaron a lograr este objetivo y por ayudar a salvar vidas (una unidad de sangre puede salvar hasta tres vidas)! ¡También nos gustaría agradecer a nuestro Key Club por organizar este evento y apoyar a los donantes durante todo el proceso!
