McNary Heights Elementary School

Step back in time with the 5th-graders at MHES! Every year, our 5th-grade students dive into history by becoming a historical figure. They choose a historical figure, research them, dress up, and share their stories with the class. To celebrate Earth Day, McNary Heights visited the McNary Nature Trails and Dam! The day was filled with engaging activities and educational presentations on water pollution, ecosystems, recycling, and more. Many of these presentations were organized by high school students from UHS. Our students had an amazing time during their visit to The Umapine Creamery! They had the opportunity to learn about the entire cheese and milk production process, from tending to the crops grown for the cows to understanding the workings of the milking parlor and seeing a cheese-making demonstration. They even got to taste-test some delicious cheese and chocolate milk. The highlight of the trip? Petting some adorable baby cows! – ¡Nuestros estudiantes pasaron un tiempo increíble durante su visita a la Umapine Creamery! Tuvieron la oportunidad de aprender sobre todo el proceso de producción de queso y leche, desde cuidar los cultivos para las vacas hasta comprender el funcionamiento del establo de ordeño y ver una demostración de elaboración de queso.
