We appreciated the opportunity to visit with Dr. Charlene Williams (Director of the Oregon Department of Education) and her team this week. She toured our robotics and dual language programs in action. On her tour, she was able to see middle school students building and programming their FTC robots, hear the high school FRC students explain how their robotics team works with their various subteams and ended the tour watching Kinder and 4th grade dual language classes complete reading and math lessons in Spanish. We appreciate the Oregon Department of Education taking the time to visit and experience a glimpse of Umatilla schools. – Apreciamos la oportunidad de visitar a la Dra. The Vikings vs Stanfield Food Drive competition was a great success, with almost 700 cans collected! The Vikings won by bringing in 490 items. In adherence to OSAA regulations, basketball teams are granted the allowance of an extra game beyond the 24-game limit. This season, our girls' team has taken up this opportunity for an additional game, designated as an endowment game. The Girl's Varsity Basketball team is participating in a Basketball Tournament organized by Nixyaawii Community School, dedicated to raising funds for Cancer research. So, today's game against Stanfield serves as our extra endowment game since we are the hosts. It's important to note that Endowment Games do not count towards a school's or individual student's season participation. Admission prices for these games are set at $8 for adults and $5 for students; passes other than the OSAA Media Pass will not be accepted. However, UHS is hosting a food drive competition offering free entry to those who bring in four canned food items. The gross gate receipts from each Endowment Game will be split 70/30 between the OSAA Foundation and the hosting school. The Foundation’s portion of the endowment game revenue and earnings thereon, coupled with tax-deductible contributions, will be used to enhance the future of Oregon High School activities. – De conformidad con las regulaciones de OSAA, a los equipos de baloncesto se les concede la asignación de un juego adicional más allá del límite de 24 juegos.
