Mrs. Rivera’s physical science students stepped into the role of detectives during a hands-on crime scene lab called The Case of the Lab Mishap! Students searched for clues, pieced together evidence, and worked to solve the mystery. This investigation gave students an exciting way to practice critical thinking, teamwork, and—most importantly—lab safety!

¡Los estudiantes de ciencias físicas de la Sra. Rivera se convirtieron en detectives durante un laboratorio práctico de escena del crimen llamado El Caso del Accidente en el Laboratorio! Los estudiantes buscaron pistas, reunieron evidencias y trabajaron para resolver el misterio. Esta investigación les dio una manera emocionante de practicar el pensamiento crítico, el trabajo en equipo y, lo más importante, la seguridad en el laboratorio.

UHS Leadership planned some fun activities to keep students energized during MAPS testing this week and next! On Monday and Tuesday, students enjoyed assemblies with games, and today during Advisory they took part in a paper crane folding relay. Each advisory worked to fold 50 cranes, and the first to deliver theirs to the office was crowned the winner for their grade.

The winners were:
9th Grade – Mr. Hill
10th Grade – Mrs. Shuman
11th Grade – Mr. Lougee
12th Grade – Mr. Kopf

¡UHS Leadership organizó algunas actividades divertidas para mantener a los estudiantes con energía durante las pruebas MAPS esta semana y la próxima! El lunes y martes, los estudiantes disfrutaron de asambleas con juegos, y hoy durante Advisory participaron en una competencia de grullas de papel. Cada Advisory trabajó para doblar cincuenta grullas, y el primero en entregarlas a la oficina fue coronado como ganador de su grado.

Los ganadores fueron:

Décimo Grado – Sra. Shuman
Undécimo Grado – Sr. Lougee
Duodécimo Grado – Sr. Kopf

Clara Brownell Middle School celebrated IT Professionals Day by giving our IT Team goodie bags to show their appreciation. We’re thankful for our IT Team and all the ways they help our schools every day!

Yesterday was an exciting day for Viking soccer! Our high school athletes played their first home games on the new field at Columbia Vista Intermediate, and CVI students filled the sidelines during recess to cheer them on.

New spaces, new opportunities! Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the ribbon cuttings at Columbia Vista Intermediate and the UHS CTE Building.

With these new facilities, students have modern classrooms, hands-on learning spaces, and room to grow.

UPDATE: Students are cleared to return to the main building. The problem was located and addressed. There was a leak in a roof area that caused water to leak on a regulator and cause a failure. The gas will remain off until the repair is fully complete.

UHS held its first all-school assembly of the year today. It was a great start as students and staff embraced this year’s theme, “Illuminate and Elevate,” a reminder to radiate positivity, be present, and lift others up every step of the way.

We had a fantastic time welcoming many of our students back for the first day of school! We look forward to welcoming the rest of our grades next week.

We had a wonderful time officially welcoming staff back at yesterday’s all-staff inservice. We took time to recognize employees for their years of service with longevity pins and celebrated our paraprofessionals who earned their para certification. We also took a moment to gather our alumni for a special photo. We are ready for a great year of learning!
